The Visioning® Process: Enter the Spirit of Child’s Play
Turning dreams into reality is child’s play. This is a naturally creative place in your mind and heart, the land of daydreams and simple kindergarten art. It’s the zone that artists and designers live in.
Find a quiet time and place for yourself. Go there equipped with a poster board, scissors, glue, and old magazines. Through the Visioning® process you will return to being an imaginative child playing make-believe and exploring possibilities.
Relax and sit quietly. Ask yourself: What is my true Heart’s Desire at this time in my life. What do I want to experience? How do I want to feel? Give yourself permission to dream big. The sky’s the limit. Imagine a magic wand that removes all blocks and obstacles. Using your nondominant hand (the one you don’t normally write with), print your Heart’s Desire somewhere on your poster board. This is your focus phrase.
Illustrate your focus phrase with images, words, colors, and patterns from magazines. On the poster board, create a collage. In the center place an image or symbol for your Creative Self. Then illustrate the experiences and feelings you want. This is your vision board.
Let the images “talk to you” by writing with your nondominant hand. Use a pen, colored markers or crayons and a journal or plain bond paper. You may feel slow, awkward, and like a kid. That’s the whole point. Your Inner Child leads to the creative, right side of your brain. Writing Example: “I am the beach” or “I am the woman” or “I am the house.”
View your Vision Board for a few minutes three times a day. Trust that your dream will become reality.
If you get impatient or discouraged, do some journaling about it. Keep viewing your vision board daily. Watch your Heart’s Desire unfold.
